About Me
LA based Draper, Textile Specialist, and Costume Maker for film and theater, .
Since I was little my parents encouraged me to use my imagination and follow my heart's desires. My passion for fashion came quite early as I decided to style myself every morning before leaving for kindergarten. As I grew older my grandmother taught me how to sew and weave, how to make my own clothes and textiles from scratch.
Ayelet Birman Maker and Textile Specialist

I've been working with my eyes and hands my entire life, and my love for crafts and textiles grew clearer and deeper. My BFA in Fashion Design from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem brought me a deep understanding of textiles, garment construction, and costume history. My experience in the fashion industry created opportunities for me to work abroad and develop strong organization, teamwork, and leadership skills. After taking classes in The School of Historical Dress and working at The Phantom of the Opera in London, I decided to continue my journey into the costume making world. This brought me to Carnegie Mellon’s Costume Production MFA program, where I worked on productions such as Into the Woods and Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. After graduation I moved to Los Angeles to and started working as a fabricator for award winning practical effects studio Legacy Effects. During the WGA strike in Hollywood, I decided to continue studying and completed one year of Graduate Textile Science studies at the University of Rhode Island, where I developed a 3D printing method to print elastic materials directly onto stretch fabrics. My exposure to a variety of disciplines in different countries and cultures molded me to be versatile, adaptable, sharp, and an enthusiastic problem solver.
